Matchday Six is operated by Alex Norton.
This Privacy Notice explains how personal information is collected, used and shared when you use Matchday Six.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use Matchday Six, we may collect:
- your email address;
- your chosen manager or team name;
- account and authentication information;
- your Matchday Six selections;
- your score predictions;
- your scores, rankings and competition history;
- information reasonably required to establish competition or prize eligibility;
- communications you send to Matchday Six; and
- technical information reasonably necessary to operate, secure and improve Matchday Six.
We aim to collect only information reasonably necessary to operate Matchday Six.
2. Why we use your information
We may use your information to:
- create and maintain your account;
- authenticate you when you sign in;
- save your selections and score predictions;
- operate the game;
- calculate scores and league positions;
- display appropriate game information to other players;
- operate competitions and award prizes;
- contact competition winners;
- prevent cheating, abuse and multiple-account entry;
- moderate inappropriate manager names;
- respond to questions or support requests;

3. Our legal bases
Depending on the circumstances, we process personal information because:
- it is necessary to provide Matchday Six and administer competitions users choose to enter;
- we have a legitimate interest in operating, protecting and improving Matchday Six;
- consent has been provided where required; or
- we have a legal obligation to process particular information.
4. Information visible to other players
Matchday Six is a competitive game and some information is intentionally shared with other players.
Your chosen manager or team name may be visible to other Matchday Six users.
Your manager name may appear alongside information such as:
- your league position;
- your Matchday Six points;
- your player selections after the relevant fixture deadline;
- your score prediction after the relevant fixture deadline;
- your role-by-role scoring;
- your captain selection; and
- other information necessary to display competition results and leaderboards.
Your manager name does not need to be your real name.
We recommend using a nickname or team name rather than your full name.
Do not include personal information such as your email address, phone number or home address in your manager name.
Your email address will not be displayed publicly as part of Matchday Six.
5. Picks and predictions before kick-off
Player selections and tie-break score predictions are intended to remain private from other players until the relevant fixture deadline has passed.
Once the deadline has passed, selections and predictions may be revealed as part of the game's competition and leaderboard functionality.
6. Children and young people
Matchday Six may be used by people under 18 with permission from a parent or guardian.
We aim to collect only the information reasonably necessary to operate the game.
We encourage younger players in particular to use a nickname or team name rather than their real name and not to include personal information in their public manager name.
Where a player under 18 wins a prize, we may request appropriate parent or guardian involvement in confirming eligibility and fulfilling the prize.
6A. Usage statistics
Matchday Six keeps its own basic usage statistics to understand how the game is used and to improve it.
This records which pages are viewed and key game actions, such as starting sign-in, opening Pick Your Six and submitting a team, together with the fixture, the type of device (mobile, tablet or desktop), the website that referred you and any campaign tags in the link you followed.
A random identifier is stored in your browser so that repeat visits can be counted. It does not contain your email address or manager name. Where you are signed in, these statistics are linked to your account so we can understand how many visitors go on to play.
We do not use advertising or third-party analytics cookies, and these statistics are not shared with advertisers or analytics companies.
You can turn usage statistics off at any time using the setting at the bottom of this page.
7. Service providers
Matchday Six uses third-party technology providers to host and operate the service, manage authentication and provide supporting technical infrastructure.
These providers may process personal information on our behalf where necessary to provide their services.
Matchday Six remains responsible for determining how personal information is used within the service.
8. Sharing your information
We do not sell users' personal information.
We may share information with service providers where necessary to operate Matchday Six or where required by law.
If a prize is provided by a commercial partner, we will not provide your personal information to that partner for its own marketing purposes without an appropriate legal basis.
Where information needs to be shared with a prize provider specifically to fulfil a prize, this will be made clear where appropriate.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
This may include:
- maintaining user accounts;
- maintaining competition records;
- operating historical leaderboards;
- resolving disputes;
- preventing abuse; and
- meeting legal obligations.
Information that is no longer required will be deleted or anonymised where appropriate.
10. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss.
However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
11. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data protection law gives you rights relating to your personal information.
These may include rights to:
- access your personal information;
- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion of information;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive certain information in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.
You also have the right to complain to the UK's Information Commissioner's Office if you are concerned about how your personal information has been handled.
12. Team News emails and marketing
Team News emails
You can choose to ask Matchday Six to email you the team news. This is optional, switched off unless you turn it on, and not required to play.
- Team News emails are generally sent after the starting lineups for a fixture have been announced.
- They may contain the starting lineups and a link to make your Matchday Six selections.
- They are only sent to players who have opted in, and only to those who have not already submitted their Six for that fixture.
- We record your Team News preference and when you change it, so we have a record of your choice.
- We record whether a Team News email has been sent to you for a particular fixture, so you do not receive duplicates.
- You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any Team News email or from your email preferences on the Matchday Six home screen.
- Switching off Team News emails does not affect your Matchday Six account, your entries, or essential sign-in emails.
Marketing
Creating a Matchday Six account does not automatically mean you have agreed to receive unrelated promotional marketing.
Opting into Team News emails is separate from general marketing and does not mean you have agreed to receive sponsor promotions, partner offers or third-party marketing. We do not share your email address with sponsors or commercial partners.
Where consent is required for electronic marketing, it will be requested separately.
13. Changes to this Privacy Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice as Matchday Six develops.
The latest version will be available on Matchday Six.
